Two Zolani brothers who handed themselves over to the police after the murder of a 45-year-old man last week have been released on R500 bail each.
The two men aged 21 and 29 handed themselves over to the police last Monday, hours after the incident.
Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said the police responded to a complaint about a man lying on the street near the cemetery in Zolani.
"On arrival, they found paramedics at the scene who informed them that the victim had died," Govender said.
The police reportedly removed a number of weapons from the house. Zolani resident Mzolisi Litye, who was at the scene, told Grocott's Mail that he had heard from neighbours around 7am that day that his friend had been killed.
"He was a friend of mine, but he lived on the other side," he said.
Litye said when he arrived at the scene, there were already onlookers gathered and the police had arrived.
"When I arrived there the police had removed weapons from the house where his body was found," he said.
Govender said the 45-year-old Zolani resident had several wounds to his body.
"On entering the informal dwelling of the victim, they recovered several exhibits that were covered in blood," she said.
The motive is not known and the police are investigating a case of murder.
The men were granted R500 bail each and the case was postponed to 2 May for further investigation.
