Xolani residents Nomisa Mancam and Sithembiso Zonke say they have been trying unsuccessfully to get Makana municipality to fix a leaking pipe.

Xolani residents Nomisa Mancam and Sithembiso Zonke say they have been trying unsuccessfully to get Makana municipality to fix a leaking pipe.

Damage from the leak has already forced Zonke to rebuild a section of his house.

The neighbours say they approached ward councillor Vuyani Kolisi.

"He takes our house numbers and promises to send someone to fix the problem, but he never does.," Mancam says. "We have sent him text messages and phoned both him (Kolisi) and the municipality but they never come."'

The water is leaking from an underground pipe.

Mancam is afraid her house might crumble to the ground because her walls are always wet, while Zonke can scarcely walk out of his yard when the leak is bad.
