The event will take place from Friday 22 to Saturday 23 March at the DSG indoor swimming pool.

According to Ashleigh Connor, secretary of the SA Underwater Hockey federation (SAUWHF), this is the first time the prestigious tournament will be held in Grahamstown.

The championships take place over the weekend and various trials will take place during the week.

Provinces attending so far are Gauteng, Gauteng North, Western Province, Border and Eastern Province, as well as the South African U19 and U23 men and women's teams.

The championships are hosted by the Eastern Province Underwater Hockey team.

The South African women's elite trials will take place on Thursday 22 March and the South African men's trials on Sunday 24 March.

Here sides will be chosen to represent South Africa at the World Championships in Hungary.
