After winning a close day/night match against Stanley Cricket Club on Friday night, Kingswood were confident going into their game against Muir College, despite the school’s good form this year.

Kingswood opted to bat first after winning the toss, and never looked back. Kingswood lost the wicket of Drew Matthews early, but Brad Haller (64) then joined Michael Braans to form a good century run partnership.

Braans scored his first fifty for the first cricket side and was eventually out for 70 as Kingswood starting to increase the scoring rate.

After Haller was dismissed, Marco Lombard scored 93, after some destructive batting with Michael Hansel (46).

Kingswood declared with Lombard’s dismissal on 317 for 5.

It was clearly a great pitch to bat on, and the Kingswood bowlers needed to be clinical to take 10 wickets for the win.

Muir, probably feeling a bit jaded, played some loose shots against the opening bowlers.

Brad Haller bowled well, yet again, as he consistently put the Muir batsmen under pressure. He claimed all five of the Muir wickets before tea, and bagged his second five-wicket hall in consecutive weekends.

Muir fought back well, but it was the Kingswood side which remained patient and eventually the breakthrough came against a number of good partnerships.

Haller finished with 6 for 52, while spinners Matthew Thorp and Marco Lombard picked up two wickets each. Kingswood bowled Muir out for 191, six overs before the close of play.

It was a long hard day for both teams, but Kingswood were full value for their 127 run victory. Against Stanley Cricket Club, Kingswood made 241 all out.

Marco Lombard top scored with 59 while Joshua Shelley made 33 and Brad Haller contributed with 30. Stanley CC were all out for 212 runs.

Marco Lombard took 3 for 28, Michael Braans 3 for 54 and Michael Hansel 2 for 3 as Kingswood won by 29 runs.
