Two vehicles were involved in an accident in front of the Drill Hall on Hill Street shortly before midday on Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of a white Opel Corsa hatchback carrying several passengers lost control of the vehicle as it came down Hill Street at high speed.

The Corsa crashed into the bakkie on the left and ended up on its roof in the middle of the road. It was quickly put back on its wheels when a traffic official arrived on the scene.

One of the eyewitnesses said that the traffic officer administered a breathalyser test to one of the passengers in the vehicle, but not the driver.
