Youth was celebrated at the Grahamstown Brumbies Rugby Club annual general meeting and prize-giving ceremony last Saturday, where 19-year-old winger Glenwill Boeta Lewis was named Player of the Year. Ten years after the club's establishment, the event held at the Dakawa Art Centre in Currie Street also saw the club elect its second youngest president to date, Guilliano Flotman.

Club youngster Lewis was awarded the esteemed Player of the Year title for his consistent performances throughout the season. He was included in the Eastern Province Country team and was made a member of the South Eastern District Rugby Union (Sedru) side during the past season.

Lewis has scored a total of 10 tries for Brumbies and enjoyed outstanding performances against the top clubs in the EP Grand Challenge.

Meanwhile Flotman, who was the club's previous vice president and has served on the Sedru executive, is now the second youngest elected president after Bruce Wessels.

Many of the previous Brumbies executive members remained unchanged at the ceremony, although a few women joined the committee. Over 100 club members and supporters came to witness to the announcement of the committee for the upcoming season.
