Local rugby player Daphne Scheepers will be donning the Springbok uniform for the third year in a row as she sets to tour with the national women's side again in June.

Scheepers was contacted last week by the South African Rugby Union, confirming that she was still part of the Springbok side.

Speaking to Grocott's Mail last week, Scheepers said she wasn't surprised to hear that she'd made the team. The trials, held earlier this month in Port Elizabeth, had gone well and she felt she'd performed to her best ability.

The Springbok women's squad will take part in two matches against a Nomads team, coming from the United Kingdom.

Scheepers left Grahamstown on Sunday where she joined the rest of the team in a holding camp in Cape Town. The matches against the Nomads will be on 23 and 30 June.

Scheepers said she's looking forward to the two clashes and she'll do her best to challenge the visiting team and help the Springboks win.

In the two years that Scheepers has played for the national team, she has earned 12 test caps.
