The Cricket Eastern Cape Chevrolet Warriors side will be in Grahamstown on Thursday 19 January, where they will be on hand to help with various coaching clinics, as well as playing a Twenty20 game in the Kenrich Festival of Cricket.

Dave Emslie, Eastern Province Cricket and Chevrolet Warriors Franchise CEO, said the festival was part of the Chevrolet Activation Programme, to raise the profile of the team and the Chevrolet brand.

The programme will see the Warriors side descending on many smaller towns and General Motors dealership showrooms around the Eastern Cape.

Set to become an annual event, Emslie said it was being conducted in conjunction with local dealer, Kenrich. The Warriors side are currently busy with the 2011/2012 season and played in the final of the 50-over competition in December.

They will play three SuperSport matches before starting the T20 campaign in February.

Jason Bowen, of EP cricket, said the Warriors squad, together with EP coaching staff, would conduct coaching clinics at identified schools in Grahamstown during the day. Bowen and Adi Birrell will manage the clinics, which will take place at the Grahamstown Oval, Kingswood College, St Andrew's College and Graeme College, starting at 2pm and ending at 4.30pm.

Players from previously disadvantaged schools and clubs will also attend the coaching sessions. After the coaching clinics, a Pro20 match will be played. Two teams will be a mixed with four schoolboys, four Warriors players and four rural/country district squad players.

It will be 12 players a side, with 11 on the field. The match will be played under lights at Kingswood's City Lords and will start at 5.30pm. The event has been sanctioned by the South African Cricketers' Association (SACA).

The Chevrolet Warriors squad to travel to Grahamstown is made up of: Bevan Bennett; Andrew Birch; Colin Ingram; Arno Jacobs; Davy Jacobs; Jon-Jon Smuts; Athi Dyili; Justin Kreusch; Lyall Meyer; Michael Price; Basheer Walters; Craig Thyssen; Reece Williams.
