Salem stays on top to win season

Salem Cricket Club is still top of the log in the Grahamstown Cricket Board (GCB) 2011/2012 season, after Saturday's matches. The first league teams were out of action over the past weekend, due to many players being involved in the Rural side match against EP Midlands.

Salem Cricket Club is still top of the log in the Grahamstown Cricket Board (GCB) 2011/2012 season, after Saturday's matches. The first league teams were out of action over the past weekend, due to many players being involved in the Rural side match against EP Midlands.

Most of the second league sides, however, were in action over the weekend. Salem remained at the top of the second league log with 35 points after 8 matches. They are far ahead of second-placed Manley Flats, who jumped from the fourth spot, with 22 points. Manley Flats overtook the Rhodes Shrews and Albany. Albany is now in third with 21 points.

The first round of the GCB league has now come to an end after Saturday's matches, with the second league resuming on 21 January and the first league on 28 January.

The various second league log leaders are:

GCB second league –

Salem 35 (8), Manley Flats 22 (5), Albany 21 (6), Shrews 20 (7), Cuylerville 15 (4), Swallows 14 (5), Tiger Titans 10 (6), Southwell 9 (6), Station Hill 7 (4), Kenton 5 (6), Port Alfred 4 (6), Early Birds 4 (6).

Bathurst second league –

Station Hill 15 (4), Tiger Titans 13 (4), Early Birds 10 (4), Port Alfred 9 (4), Rainbows 0 (4).

Albany 2nd League –

Salem 10 (3), Kenton 10 (4), Sidbury 10 (4), Cuylerville 3rds 9 (2), Southwell 1 (3).

Grahamstown 2nd league –

Manley Flats 24 (5), Swallows 16 (5), Albany 6 (4), Cuylerville 2nds 5 (4), Sidbbury 4 (2), Cuylerville 3rds 3 (4).
