A record entry of 447 participants took part in the Rapportryers/PJ Olivier fun run last Thursday. The event started at the school and took participants along Market Street and into York Street towards Fort England Hospital, before participants made their way back to the school for the 5km event.

The beneficiary for this year's event was the Settlers Close Restoration Fund, and R10 000 was handed over to the organisation after the fun run.

PJ Olivier was the school with the most entries (81), followed by Victoria Girls High School with 64 entries. As is tradition with the PJ fun run, the upcoming year's prefects at the various schools dressed up for the fun run and took part in their various groups.

First person home was Simphiwe Tana (Nedbank Running Club) who finished in 19 minutes 13 seconds. Second was Sabatha Simangweni of Run/Walk For Life Athletics Club in 19:53, and third was Sisa Camasu (Nedbank) in 20:15. The women's winner was Natalie Ross of Rhodes University Athletics Club who finished in 24:22, followed by Jene Banfield in 24:29 and Terri-Lynn Penney in 24:54, both from Run/Walk For Life.
