Are you ready for the Grocott's Mail and Van Schaik bookstore October book competition? To win one of two books offered as prizes, all you need to do is answer this easy question:

The Dalai Lama wanted to come to South Africa to attend whose birthday celebrations?

    This month's prizes are:

Rugby in our blood by Angus Powers
Now you see her by James Patterson

Two prize winners will be drawn from the names of those who supply the correct answer.

Entries can be emailed to editor@grocotts.co.za or dropped off in an envelope at 40 High Street. All entries must have a phone number or other daytime contact details.

Now you see her by James Patterson

Nina's secret life began eighteen years ago. She had looks to die for, a handsome police-officer husband, and a carefree life in Key West. When she learned that she was pregnant with her first child, her happiness was almost overwhelming. But Nina's world is shattered when she unearths a terrible secret that causes her to run for her life and change her identity.

Now, years later, Nina risks everything she's earned to return to Florida and confront the murderous evil she fled. In a story of wrenching suspense, James Patterson gives us his most head-spinning, action-filled story yet – a Hitchcock-like blend of unquenchable drama and pleasure.

Rugby in our blood by Angus Powers

Rugby – is it love or addiction? There’s little doubt that South Africans are mad for rugby. In this book some of the country’s most famous rugby fans, and a Springbok or two, put into plain words what the game means to them.

The likes of former DA leader Tony Leon, Spud author John van de Ruit and 702 talk show host John Robbie share their favourite rugby stories. Leon Schuster claims that playing pranks on his Shimla teammates kick-started his career in comedy, while former Springbok Kobus Wiese reveals a hilarious anecdote about a fellow tight forward on tour in Paris.

Some tell of life lessons learnt on and off the field, while others recall memorable moments in Springbok rugby, or the glory days of student rugby – when they could still run!
