Kingswood pupil breaks 44-year-old record

Talented Kingswood College sisters Celeste and Michelle du Toit won several trophies at the school's inter-house athletics meeting last week.

Talented Kingswood College sisters Celeste and Michelle du Toit won several trophies at the school's inter-house athletics meeting last week.

Celeste won the U16 800m and long jump, and shared the Victrix Ludorum trophy with Shannon Arnold. Michelle won trophies for Open 100m, 400m, 1 500m, Best Sprints, and the Open Victrix Ludorum.

Steven Loock also shone on the day, winning trophies for Boys' Open Long Jump, High Jump, 100m, 200m, sprints, Field Events and the Open Victor Ludorum.

Loock broke a 44-year-old record in the Open 400m, winning in a time of 50.25 seconds. The previous record, set in 1967 by D Wilson, was 50.9 seconds.
