For the runners there was a 5km trail run and the main event being an 18km trail run.

All the longer events took cyclists and runners through the nearby farm lands and through the pineapple lands, with a number of muddy river crossings which saw a few runners and cyclists taking a tumble.

Grahamstown athletes performed well in the various events, with top local cyclists, Jason Meaton winning the main cycle ride in 2:45:38, followed by a previous winner at Shaw Park, David Wright and former Rhodes University student, CM Muller.

In the 43km, Andrico Blignaut was second overall. Samantha Meaton kept it in the family when she came in as the first woman home in the 18km cycle, while Cameron Amos was the 5km winner.

In the trail run events, Terri-Lynn Penney was the women's winner in 1:39:30, while Zelda van Onselen was second in the women's category and third overall in the 5km.
