    Fuel sales drive growth to 17.2%

    Motor trade sales grew by 17.2% year-on-year in June 2011, said Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).
    According to the national data service, fuel sales were the biggest contributor to growth rate, followed by new and used vehicle sales.

    For the second quarter of 2011, motor trade sales increased by 13%. For this period the biggest contributors were fuel sales and new vehicle sales.

    “In June 2011, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2.6% month-on-month, following month-on-month changes of 0.8% in May 2011 and 1.7% in April 2011,” said Stats SA. – BuaNews
