Brent Samuels has spent his Festival week at the Village Green market, enthusiastically selling hand-carved wooden animals that whistle, howl, rattle and shriek.

The animals range from frogs, owls, wolves and crickets to "blow-in-the bum" hippopotamuses which, when they're stroked or blown, realistically reproduce the call of that animal.

Imported from Thailand through his company, Soundshed, the musical animals are works of art that are both physically and aurally appealing.

Samuels says he's been happy with the Festival vibe. "It's always great to be back in Grahamstown, so I can experience the diversity of people and interesting faces," he says.

An all-ages stall that encourages children to interact with the products on offer, it's store 43 in Tent 1 at the Village Green market.

"People should come and enjoy the experience," Samuels says.
