Some dressed up for the occasion with traditional clothing and painted faces. During the voting process, order was maintained , amidst the chaos of cows, goats, dogs and children. The elderly cast their votes with the hope of bringing about change for themselves and others in their community, especially the oblivious youth and those who are unable to vote.
"If I die now, I’ve cast my vote," said Thobile May. First-time voters made informed decisions based on service delivery. “The party that I’m going to vote for took us out of the shacks and built us RDP houses,” said Nokulunga Rooi.
“I’m going to vote for the party that brought us freedom,"said Thandokazi Persival. Other voters, however, voiced concerns about the lack of tarred roads. But it was the provision of houses that won the vote.
