Perhaps you want to know if there are any restaurant specials on in Grahamstown tonight, or perhaps you're interested in knowing what's showing at the local cinema…

Maybe it's tomorrow's weather forecast you're after, or maybe you're looking for something to do this weekend. If you've got a minute to spare and a cellphone at hand, you're in luck.

Grahamstown NOW is a mobi-site powered by Grocott's Mail. It launched in June last year, and now, to coincide with O-week, we're launching version 2, which boasts more features, more content, more value and better usability.

Grahamstown NOW serves up a snapshot at any given point in time of what’s currently happening, or about to happen, in Grahamstown. The goal is to provide you with practical, immediately useable information directly related to the living out of your daily life in Grahamstown.

It's been designed to work on even the simplest of internet-enabled cellphones. Simply open your phone's web browser, and navigate to www.ghtnow.co.za. It works on computers too, but it's primarily intended for cellphones.

What's on offer on Grahamstown NOW?

Event listings: Users can submit their own events directly from their phones.
Business specials: Current and upcoming specials in Grahamstown (at registered businesses).
News items: the latest and most popular stories from Grocott’s Online
Webcams: Current views from a number of webcams across Grahamstown.
Grahamstown Guide: A handy index of everything you might need in Grahamstown
Movie screenings: What’s coming up next at the local cinema.
Radio shows: What’s on now and coming up next on local radio stations.
Weather conditions: Right now and for tomorrow
Tweets: the latest tweets from @grocotts, and latest tweets mentioning Grahamstown.
SMSes: the latest SMSes received by Grocott’s
Lift offers/requests.

Many of the above are displayed according to time (countdown until something begins or ends), so the home page and section pages are dynamic and never look the same. Users might see that a jazz concert is starting in an hour and 30 minutes, or that a 2-for-1 pizza special at a local restaurant started two hours ago, or that the next showing of a certain movie begins in 20 minutes, or that a public council meeting is scheduled for two days’ time.

Register now at www.ghtnow.co.za to customise your preferences and gain access to exclusive specials and other benefits.

FREEBIE: All local businesses are invited to enjoy free listing of their specials and events, and one free banner advert, for one month from 7 February to 7 March. Email michael@grocotts.co.za for more information on this offer.
