The Raphael Centre for HIV/Aids went the extra mile for Mandela Day, by distributing baby clothes and parcels to disadvantaged mothers, babies and children affected by the virus.
The baby clothes were donated by a group of women in Scotland, organised by Stella Bell. The clothes were delivered in the surrounding townships.

The baby clothes were donated by a group of women in Scotland, organised by Stella Bell. The clothes were delivered in the surrounding townships.
The donations continued into the afternoon, with HIV/Aids affected children being brought to the centre after school and receiving packets filled with toiletries, tinned food and clothing.
The Raphael Centre for HIV/Aids is located on Donkin Street and provides free HIV testing, counselling, support groups and life skills education to those suffering or affected by HIV/Aids.
They have also planted a vegetable garden, which is used to help provide a balanced daily meal to all the members.
Children affected by HIV/Aids are welcome to visit the centre in the afternoons, where they participate in activities and are mentored by Rhodes University students during the university term time.
