The Border Equestrian Club hosted the Eastern Cape Dressage Championships in East London on 3 and
    4 July.

These dressage championships were judged by Rose Lever from Cape Town. Lever is a past winner of the South African Dressage Championship and is a well-known dressage coach and judge.

Results in the warm-up classes on the Saturday were: N1 – 1st Pohlands Cabaret (Pat Pohl), N3 – 1st Pohlands Velcro C (Pat Pohl), M1 – Pohlands Why Hello (Pat Pohl).

Pohlands Cabaret and Pohl went on to win the Eastern Cape Novice Championship on Sunday. The main class of the show was the Eastern Cape Championship for the higher-grade horses and this was won by Pohlands Why Hello and Pat Pohl.

This is the fifth time that Pohl has won the Eastern Cape Dressage Championship. Pohlands Sport Horse Stud is best known for producing top show jumpers so it was pleasing to win in the dressage arena on three different Pohlands bred horses.

The Port Elizabeth Riding Club will be hosting the South African Dressage Championships at the beginning of September and several Grahamstown riders will make the most of the opportunity to compete against the country’s best in the various grades. The Eastern Cape will also be fielding a team in the South African Team Championships.
