    The search for young soccer talent begins

    Local talented junior soccer players are getting ready to pull out all the stops. The Cacadu U15 soccer tournament is a mid term plan to identify the cream of the soccer crop, and is scheduled to take place in Grahamstown this weekend.
     

    Local talented junior soccer players are getting ready to pull out all the stops. The Cacadu U15 soccer tournament is a mid term plan to identify the cream of the soccer crop, and is scheduled to take place in Grahamstown this weekend.
     

    According to Anga Ngcebetsha, a sports officer at the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC), the talented players will be groomed to take part in the Chris Hani U18 tournament in the next two years.

    The weekend’s U15 tournament is organised as a mass participation  programme by DSRAC and has been scheduled to start at 9am today and concludes tomorrow.

    Eight teams, representing local football associations in the Cacadu region, and two Makana sides, will be taking part. All matches will be played at JD Dlepu Stadium.

    The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 9am today with opening remarks by a Makana local football association representative, as well as a message from Siyabulela Magopheni (DSRAC), Jeff Budaza (Makana Municipality), and a key note address by a South African Football Association Cacadu representative.

    Today’s matches: Sunday’s River vs Ndlambe and Makana 1 vs Blue Crane at 10am. Makana 2 vs Ikhwezi and Camdeboo vs Kouga at 11.30am.

    Sunday’s River vs Blue Crane and Makana 1 vs Ndlambe at 2pm. Camdeboo vs Ikhwezi and Makana 2 vs Kouga at 3.30pm. Saturday’s matches: Sunday’s River vs Makana 1 and Blue Crane vs Ndlambe at 10am.

    Makana 2 vs Camdeboo and Ikhwezi vs Kouga at 11.30am.

    The two semi-finals will then be played at 2.30pm. Sunday’s matches: Third and fourth play-offs at 10am and the finals at 11.30am.
