The EP Skydivers, Grahamstown club launched the club’s aircraft by organising a weekend of skydiving jumps.

EP Skydivers owner, Joos Vos said the weekend went off well although they lost about an hour due to the misty morning which greeted Grahamstown on Sunday.

In total, Vos said there were 25 tandem jumps over the two days, with the tandem jumps taken between Vos and club member Llewelyn Henman.

In between the tandem jumps were a further dozen static line jumps. The club held a static line course on Friday evening for first time  jumpers, with four interested jumpers taking part in the course.

The four also made their first jumps over the weekend. While a few club friends travelled from port Elizabeth and East London for the weekend’s jumps, Vos said a number of overseas visitors, mainly from the United Kingdom, took to the skies during their visit to the National Arts Festival and to the soccer World Cup.

The aircraft, called the Free Fall Phoenix Cessna 182–ZS-ENA is owned by a EP Skydivers club member. Although the aircraft is not new, Vos said it has a new engine and new prop.
