Phoenix Roller Mills Settlers Show

Grahamstown riders sure stood out at this year’s Phoenix Roller Mills Settlers Show which draws horses and riders from all over the province.
 

Grahamstown riders sure stood out at this year’s Phoenix Roller Mills Settlers Show which draws horses and riders from all over the province.
 

The competition involves graded showing, show jumping, equitation and dressage. Grahamstown Riding Club rider Ruth Plasket riding her exquisite pony Silver Streak scooped most of the pony rider showing prizes.

They won show pony, show riding pony, show hunter pony and won the overall champion show pony of the show.

Andrea Barnard on Assegai’s Lord Felix also did extremely well winning the junior working riding horse category and the Junior Champion Working Horse title.

Sarah Cuppleditch riding Assegai’s Peregrine Falcon won Junior Working Hunter and was named the Reserve  Champion Junior Working Horse overall.

Misty Weyer on Assegai’s Major Major scooped the adult working hunter title as well as the Adult Working Horse championship.

In the dressage, Cathera Cockcroft riding section Assegai’s Sox won her prelim test while Taryn-Marie Wille on Assegai’s Garrick won the second test.

Sarchen Gainsford on Assegai’s Solero won both her dressage tests and Sarah and Peregrine Falcon also won both their Junior prelim dressage tests.

Debbie Bekker riding Gypsey Boy won at the elementary level while Pat Pohl on Pohland Velcro won both the adult novice tests. Karla Hart scooped first place in the junior novice Equitation.

In the hotly contested showjumping arena, Lizelle Burchell on Alchemist won the 90cm Welcome class while Misty on Major Major won both the 1.10m welcome and accumulator events.

Carey Pohl on Pohlands Witch Hazel showed how it should be done when she won the 1.20m, 1.30m, and 1.35m welcome, speed and precision and Phoenix Stakes classes.

She also won the 1m speed and precision and Phoenix Stakes show jumping events on Pohlands Abracadabra. Taryn-Marie riding Garrick won the 80cm show jumping competition in two phases.
