Friar Tucks two years ago is currently being heard in the Port Elizabeth Regional Court.
Christopher Branch (24) of Port Elizabeth is facing five counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, after a bar fight broke out at the popular nightclub on 28 February, 2008.
One of the witnesses Jason Lischer, testified how he was attacked by Branch when he tried to intervene in a fight involving his friend.
Lischer, who worked as a bouncer part-time at Friar Tucks, said that he was off duty on the day of the incident and attempted to stop the fight.
“I tried to intervene but when I did so, I was hit in the chest and nose, and bled profusely,” he said.
Lischer explained how he needed to bandaged and taken to Settlers Hospital for further treatment.
He also testified that Branch apologised to him after the incident and gave him R2500 as compensation for medical expenses. Branch has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
