    On the right track

    Archie Mbolekwa Higher Primary School star athletes Sinathi Kom and Sinazo Bonani show off their certifi cates of participation in last weekend’s provincial athletics competition held at Port Elizabeth’s Westbourne Stadium.

    Kom came third in 1 500m for UI15 boys while Bonani came fourth in the U19 girls 400m. They were both awarded medals for their efforts.

    The school’s sportsmaster Mpumelelo Mthetho said his dedication as a coach paid off. “Fortunately, I had a disciplined team of children who listened to everything I said,” he added.

    In preparation for the competition, the athletes ran for about 3km twice a week and used the Rhodes University’s athletic track for practice. “That’s what helped them a lot,” said Mthetho.
