    Police investigating two weekend rape cases

    Police are investigating two cases of rape that occurred in Grahamstown on Saturday.

    Police are investigating two cases of rape that occurred in Grahamstown on Saturday.

    In the early hours of Saturday morning a woman was raped at the Oval Stadium. Police spokesperson Inspector Sherolene Williams said the woman was walking along Albany Road when she  was grabbed by a man, who forced her to the stadium where he raped her.

    After violating the woman, the perpetrator fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

    The second rape occured in Oerson Street on Saturday afternoon. Williams said the complainant said she was woken up by her son’s friend who was lying on top of her. “She asked him what he was doing and without answering the suspect ran away,” said Williams. The public is urged to contact the police with any inforamtion regarding these incidents.
