Attackers and Golden Stars glide through to semis

Eleven Attackers and Golden Stars soccer clubs have both booked their spots in the semi-finals of the Makana Local Football Association (LFA) pre-season soccer tournament after winning their quarter finals over the weekend.

These were the only two matches of the tournament ot take place over the weekend, with the other two fixtures set for this week.

These were the only two matches of the tournament ot take place over the weekend, with the other two fixtures set for this week.

Makana LFA secretary, Thandazile Madinda, said the organisers are still in discussions as to when the last two quarter finals will be played, but confirmed that they will happen during the week.

City Pillars and Phoenix Pioneers will face two Alicedale sides in the other quarter final matches. Grocott’s Mail Eleven Attackers booked their spot in the semis after beating Young Stars.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw and then went to penalty kicks, which Eleven Attackers won 5-3. Golden Stars then beat Manchester United (Riebeeck East) 3-1 to proceed to the semis.

The semi finals and the finals are scheduled for this weekend, where the winning side will be crowned as the Makana LFA champions. All matches will be played at JD Dlepu Stadium.

Pioneers and Eleven Attackers are both members of the South African Football Association Cacadu league, while the other local sides are part of the Metropolitan league.
