The Grahamstown Cricket Board league fixtures are well underway, with a number of matches being played over the past weekends in and around the Grahamstown and Port Alfred areas.

The various leagues under the GCB are the Bathurst 1st and 2nd leagues, Central Albany 1st and 2nd leagues, GCB 1st and 2nd leagues and a Twenty/20 1st league.

The Central Albany 1st league is made up of Makana Sona, Willows, Salem and Sidbury Cricket Clubs. The Bathurst 1st league is made up of Cuylerville, Manley Flats, Port Alfred and Southwell.

All the above clubs, as well as Rhodes Rats and Rhodes Rhodents make up the GCB 1st league.
Cuylerville Cricket Club go into the new season as defending champions in both the GCB 1st and 2nd leagues, as well as the Twenty/20 league.

They will be hoping to go one better this year as they hope to also win the Bathurst 1st league, after finishing second to Manley Flats last season.

This past weekend saw a number of Twenty/20 fixtures taking place, as well as a few 2nd league matches. Other than the two Rhodes sides playing on Saturday, there were no other 1st league games, due to the EP Grahamstown fixture which took place at Manley Flats.

The 2008/2009 GCB 1st league was won by Cuylerville with 38 points, followed by Manley Flats (33) and Makana Sona (26).

Cuylerville 2nds won the 2nd league with 43 points, with Port Alfred 2nds taking second spot (42) and Southwell third (39). Cuylerville also went on to win the Twenty/20 tournament, beating Port Alfred in the final.

In the Central Albany 1st league, Makana Sona won, with Salem finishing second. Manley Flats won the Bathurst 1st league, with Cuylerville second. Swallows won the Central Albany 2nd league and Station Hill won the Bathurst 2nd league.
