A 12-year-old boy died in Joza on Wednesday after he was robbed and stabbed, allegedly by a group of school boys. The incident took place near the Ethiopian Church in Ncame Street.
One of the residents, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the boy crawled to her house and knocked on the door while clutching his chest and then collapsed and died on her doorstep. "These boys are killing our children for nothing," said the resident, who also said that when the suspects are found, they should be put to death for the heinous crime.
When Grocott’s Mail arrived in Joza, police and angry residents were searching for the suspects in neighbouring houses in L and M Streets where they thought they could be hiding. Conflict broke out when residents accused each other of hiding potential suspects in their houses. There was tension in the air while the police searched nearby areas."If you are hiding suspects in your house, we’ll burn it down!" shouted angry residents. They then chased a suspect who was trying to escape from a nearby house. Police arrived at the scene and arrested the boy who was heard shouting: "I’ll be back!" to the residents as he was driven away in the police van.
