The College of the Transfiguration recently donated blankets to patients at Temba TB hospital. Patients sang songs of glory and clapped joyously as they were amazed at the grace which had fallen upon them. The gesture will not only keep the chills out this winter but will also warm the hearts of the patients.
"This year’s winter seems to be really cold, we could not turn a blind eye to those in need" said Rev Isaias Chachine, from The College of the Transfiguration. The handover started of with a short prayer and the song "Siyabonga Baba" (Thank you God) before the blankets were accepted.
One of the patients Ntombozo Kani said: "We are so grateful to know that there are people who still care about us." The patients have formed a choir so lined up to sing some songs of praise. They wasted no time wrapping themselves up in their new, warm blankets. The choir called out: "As patients we are grateful for the great treatment we get from this hospital".
Chachine said "Today is not the day to preach the gospel but a day to practice the gospel." The College of the Transfiguration aims to teach their students how to care for those who really need it. The reverend says that this will encourage people from Grahamstown to remember those in need this winter, open up their hearts and give back to the community.
