Alleged kidnap victim, Ntomboxolo “Lele” Bashe has been returned to Grahamstown accompanied by members of the police.

Lele’s disappearance sparked the arrest and detention of kidnapped three men – Sabelo Mancam, Siyazi Ngojo and Phikisile Demele with whom she spent her last moments before disappearing. Bashe has laid fresh rape charges against the men.

Bashe says that after spending an evening with the men in an Extension 7 tavern in December last year, the men took her to a field next to Ntsika Secondary School and raped her.

She says they then put her in a white Golf which took her to Port Elizabeth and dumped her at a taxi rank there.

Bashe alleges that following she went into hiding with her boyfriend who lives in Port Elizabeth following the incident. Bashe says that she did not tell anyone where she was as she had feared that the men might find her and kill her.

Bashe previously stated to the Port Elizabeth police that she had not been raped by the men, but said that she only did this in fear of retaliation from the men.

Her family appealed to the police to help protect Bashe as “gangsters” were after her.
